After successfully reaching the summit of Mount Olympus the previous day and regaling my co-workers with tales of my adventure, I had hoped one or two of them would decide to join me as I explored the coastal city of Larnaka. Unfortunately, they all decided they would rather lay on the beautiful beach and drink (a noble pastime, no doubt). Undaunted, I set off to see what I could see.
Larnaka Archeological Museum
My first stop was the Larnaka District Archeological Museum.
It turns out we have been worried about a zombie apocalypse for many thousands of years. This guy was buried over 10,000 years ago with a big rock on his chest. That way if he became one of the undead, he would be stuck under a rock.
The Larnaka Marina
After the museum, I wandered around town and found myself at the marina.
And so ends my work sponsored long weekend in Cyprus. I had a great time here even though it was the off season. I was talking to one of the locals, and apparently Larnaka is even more crazy during the summer than Ibiza. Having spent a week in Ibiza back in the mid-1990’s, I might just have to come back here during the summer to find out the truth.
Stay tuned for more as I explore Israel!
